High, cold country
The Southern Downs is some of the highest country we work in: Warwick sits at about 475 m and Stanthorpe at 815 m, where the July mean minimum is 1.1 °C. Insulated workshops, draught-proof roller doors and, for houses, the NCC thermal break between a steel frame and lightweight cladding all deserve attention on the drawings.
A planning scheme under review
Southern Downs Regional Council is reviewing its planning scheme, with housing and natural hazards among the main themes, and it publishes a building information sheet for Class 10a garages, sheds and carports. The Condamine River flood of February 1976 remains the benchmark for low-lying land in Warwick.
